Company of the week: Form Bio

This is a bioinformatic station if I ever saw one! A one-stop shop for an eventual end-to-end pipeline that enable scientists to use all the strengths of biotechnology.

This service-as-a-product will serve a great purpose for many labs attempting new protocols they have never completed before!

Form Bio provides a concise workflow for each protocol where you can seamlessly integrate your existing or newly produced datasets. If you are new to the protocol, this product helps to streamline understanding of each assay by providing workflow charts, as well as relevant publications. Just imagine how many protocols could be developed for this cloud-based biotechnology accelerator!

End-to-end: The application can intake data and run simulations in-silico so that you are not wasting money/time in the wet lab. In addition, Form Bio is currently offering data visualization through a SHINY application, although that will be changing soon, as they have just signed with Project Jupyter to provide a high-quality data visualization interface for users.

My curiosity was peaked when I saw newly established Colossal Biosciences announce their spinout Form Bio. Of course, the technology was created organically as the teams at Colossal Biosciences attempt to revive extinct animals like the Wooly Mammoth or Tasmanian Tiger.

Some of the workflows include:
• AAV Gene Therapy Candidate Optimization
• AmpliconSeq: Batch
• Assembly: Long Read
• Bismark Methylation Analysis
• Build Alignment Indexes for a Genome Assembly
• CRISPR Knock-Out
• CrispRank: Genome Editing
• Eukaryote Gene Annotation
• Genomics: Ancient DNA Germline Variant Analysis
• Single Cell Analysis
• RNASeq: Expression Analysis
and SO MUCH more!

Advisory Board includes:
• George Church
• Carolyn Bertozzi
• Joseph DeSimone
• Helen hobbs
• Elazer Edelman
• Erez Lieberman Aiden
• Christopher Mason
• Linda Avey
• Peter H. Diamandis

Big thanks to Alpha Boubacar Diallo, Kirk Sudheimer, MBA, and Mark Swendsen for showing me the ropes!
