Becoming an Advisor

By Thomas Perkins

An experience I will never forget:

After being contacted by a Healthcare Associate with Guidepoint I signed on as a Scientific Advisor and had the opportunity to consult right away.

Guidepoint allows me to:

  • Create a schedule so that I can consult in my free time.

  • Set my own rate.

  • Advise VCs, Hedge funds, and angel investors on something that I love…biotechnology!

This was a great way to offset the pay difference when becoming a Scientist/Engineer in academia from industry.

As we learn, we become valuable to someone else and they might pay more than you’d expect, just to talk to you. Sometimes, a dollar sign will motivate people more than the science behind it. I understand this and I hope that we can all make money while making the world a better place simultaneously; leaving it better than we found it.

We have a long way to go but being involved in life sciences will help form tangible paths to a more sustainable future.
You could get involved with life science companies that are currently working on products that could potentially save the world like…

This post portrays some of the topics I cover like:
- Startup and/or biotech selection
- Exposure to different companies in the industry
- Biotech culture
- Applications used in Biotechnology
- Field of study and focus

So if you see this post and want to save the world while getting paid a fair wage, please contact me at TapBioscience for free consulting.
